Herstmonceux
Castle is run by the International Study Centre that is
an extension Of Queens University in Montreal, Canada.
We were asked to design and tender
air conditioning into the castles main kitchen, food
preparation and wash up areas which were experiencing
considerable high temperatures with ultimate food risk
and discomfort to the catering staff.
We worked closely with English
Heritage and the Castle Architect to maintain the
exterior aesthetic within strict design guidelines.
The interconnecting pipe work ran
from the kitchen area through disused cellar space. All
six pipelines broke out at moat level and an existing
plant housing was extended to conceal the external
condensing units.
Six systems, five ceiling suspended
units and one wall mounted unit were installed to provide
a total of 69.50kW of cooling capacity.
